Seven area teams to play in regionals

Seven of the eight area volleyball teams have made Saturday’s regional round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association playoffs.
Each team will have to win its first contest to make the sub-state.
The rest of the games will determine seeding.
The top two teams will get to host the sub-state round Oct. 23.
Despite the fact two schools had a shot to host the round in front of them, one area team will get to play at home.
Class 1A’s Regional A will be at Kinston as Area 4 winner Akron and Area 1 winner McIntosh did not have two courts, a requirement treams must fulfill to host.
Kinston, the sixth-ranked team in 1A, will play Ariton at 10 a.m. The winner will face the winner of the Akron-Sweet Water game at 1:30 p.m.
Other first-round games in the regional are No. 2 Providence Christian versus Pleasant Home and McIntosh versus Billingsley.
All other area teams will have to make road trips.
In 6A, Enterprise will face Benjamin Russell at Auburn High School at 11:15 a.m.
The winner will play the winner of the Smiths Station-Robert E. Lee game at 1:30 p.m.
Auburn will face Dothan and Prattville will take on Russell County in the other first-round regional games.
In 3A, Geneva and Daleville will travel to Daphne’s Bayside Academy, the No. 2 team in 3A
Geneva will take on Luverne at 10 a.m., while Daleville will face Straughn at 11:15 a.m.
If Daleville wins, they will face the winner of the Bayside Academy-Headland game.
With a win in the first round, Geneva will battle with the winner of the Cottage Hill Christian-Dale County game.
Both second-round games are at 1:30 p.m.
In 2A, Samson and Elba will particiapte in Regional A at Washington County High in Chatom, while Zion Chapel will play in Regional B at Ohatchee High.
In Regional A, Samson will face Houston Academy at 11:15 a.m. Elba will take on G.W. Long at 10 a.m.
With wins, Elba will face the Leroy-Flomaton winner, while Samson will face the Mobile Christian-Millry winner at 1:30 p.m.
Leroy is currently ranked 10th.
Zion Chapel, who is 18-2, will face a Shades Mountain Christian team that battled with No. 7 Ohatchee for five sets before losing the area title game.
The Zion Chapel-Shades Mountain game is at 11:15 a.m.
If Zion Chapel wins, they will play the winner of the No. 6 American Christian-Thorsby game.
Other Regional B games are Ohatchee versus Goshen and No. 8 Isabella versus Fultondale.
Consolation games are at 2:45 p.m., and championships are at 4 p.m.
