A $500,000 bond was set Friday by District Judge Paul Sherling for a Bellwood man charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with two shootings early Thursday in Enterprise.

Christopher Draw McCray, 20, of Coffee County Road 721, Bellwood, was charged with the two offenses after Enterprise police arrested him around 3:30 p.m. Thursday. McCray was arrested at his father’s house in Bellwood after the suspect’s father notified police his son wanted to turn himself in, according to Enterprise Police Capt. Mike Lolley.

In McCray’s initial court appearance Friday morning, Sherling set bonds of $300,000 on the murder charge and $200,000 on the attempted murder.

McCray has been charged with the murder of Tori Maurice Jones, 30, of Hull St., Enterprise, and the attempted murder of George Presley, who sustained a gunshot wound to the forehead.

According to police reports, officers responded to an apartment at 100 Dixie Drive around 12:22 a.m Thursday regarding a report of a shooting.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Jones dead inside the Castle Ridge apartment. He been shot once in the face and once in the chest.

Presley later walked into the emergency room at Medical Center Enterprise and identified McCray as the person who shot him. Presley denied any knowledge of who shot Jones, reports stated.

A warrant for attempted murder was obtained for McCray early Thursday and the murder warrant was obtained early Friday.

Sherling and Assistant District Attorney Tom Anderson said McCray had no prior charges, but Anderson said, “since the defendant faces a possibility of two consecutive life sentences on the charges, we believe McCray could be a flight risk and could be a harm to the public at-large.”
Sherling agreed and set requirementsinstructions tha if McCray is released on bond, he will have to wear a state GPS monitor and will have to reside at his home address. Sherling also set a curfew from 8 p.m.-8 a.m. for McCray if he is released on bond.

McCray said he has obtained David Baker of Opp as his attorney.
