A youth from the Juvenile Diversion Center in Dothan escaped from an Enterprise doctor’s office Friday morning and was apprehended about two hours later, according to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department.
The juvenile had been transported to the doctor’s office for an evaluation and escaped from the office into woods between Glover Avenue and Lee Street about 11;15 a.m., according to a news release from Coffee County Chief Deputy R.W. Whitworth.
The area into which the youth escaped was sealed off and the Dale County Sheriff’s Department’s helicopter was called in to assist with the search, Whitworth said.
The chief deputy credited quick response by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, Enterprise Police Department and the Dale County Sheriff’s Department for making the youth’s escape short-lived.
The juvenile was transported back to the Diversion Center to await further court action, Whitworth said.
