An Enterprise man was pronounced dead after being driven to the front of the Daleville Police Department Sunday evening about 6:30. Daleville Police Chief Ronnie Williams said a vehicle pulled in front of the police department and the occupants jumped out and yelled that the man had been stabbed.
“A black male assisted another black male out of the vehicle, who was bleeding as Officers Levy Dahlquist and Daniel Summers rushed to his aid,” Williams said.
First aid was begun on the victim, Calvin Baker, 46, of Enterprise, but when the Daleville Rescue Squad arrived, they found no pulse or breathing, according to the police chief. A black man who assisted Baker to the police department ran from the scene north of Daleville Avenue, but Williams said the man was brought back to the police by his mother. The man was questioned and released.
Around the same time, another ambulance was dispatched to County Road 31 for another stabbing victim, Jeremy Rose, 27, of Daleville, who was transported to Flowers Hospital. Police believe the Baker and Rose stabbings are connected, Williams said.
Investigators Willy Powell and Kenny Jackson begun interviewing witnesses and have a possible suspect in the stabbings. Williams reported the investigation is continuing and an arrest should be forthcoming in the next couple of days.
