Attendance for the first day of school in Coffee County Schools is up 41 students over last year, Superintendent Linda Ingram reported.
Enrollment figures at Zion Chapel School, including the high school and elementary school, show attendance is up 54 students. Last year, the school had 739 students register the first day and this year 793 registered.

New Brockton High School is up 17 students with a total of 387 from grades seventh through 12th, compared to 370 last year. New Brockton Elementary School lost seven students with a total of 370 students registering. Both New Brockton schools total 757 students.

Kinston Schools, also including high school and the elementary, lost 23 students with a total Wednesday of 492 students compared to last years 515.

Ingram said that a few students will come in to register after the first day of school because of moving either to a new home located in the district or for some other reason.

“We always have some students who are new that come into the area or decide to change school locations,” she said. “We will take another enrollment count in another few days.”
