The New Brockton Community Learning Center at the elementary school will register students until today only for the Camp Wet and Wild Summer School program.

According to Summer Program Site Director Chris Sutley, parents have until the end of the day Friday to register students in grades kindergarten through eighth.

The camp summer school is scheduled for Monday, July 7 through Friday, July 18.

“We have so many fun and exciting activities for summer school,” Sutley said. “We’ll have arts and crafts and right now, we’ve got three field trips planned to Henderson Park, Gulf World and a wet and wild day planned. We do have an artist, Lilly Hall, from Enterprise, who is going to come and teach students how to paint with acrylics and watercolors. We plan on having this on each Tuesday and Thursday, so the students are going to have fun, but learn some things at the same time.”

The camp is from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. each weekday from July 7 through the 18th and will be housed in the present third-grade building. Parents will sign students in and out daily and then the students can go directly to their classroom, Sutley explained.
Teachers and teacher aides will be on campus and have direct communication at all time.

Sutley said students should bring a sack lunch each day.

“Refrigeration will be provided to keep the lunches cool and a morning snack will be provided for all the students,” she said.

“As parents come the first day on July 7, we’ll have an information table set-up about the field trips, schedules and all the teachers and aide names will be posted. A registration form has to be completed by a parent and turned in, so we’ll know how many students we are going to have. There is a limited number of slots, so we have encouraged parents to fill out the forms.”

Registration forms are available at the school. There is a registration fee, but the fee will include the cost of a Camp Wet and Wild T-shirt.

The summer school program is provided by a 21st Century Extended Day Program grant.
