Coffee Springs Christian School has last stand

The doors will close for good at the end of the school year for the Coffee Springs Christian School. Last Thursday, kindergarters received graduation certificates, along with the rest of the classes receiving Christian awards.

The Honors Chapel and the graduation, at the First Baptist Church in Coffee Springs, celebrated the final year of the school, Director Amanda Nelson said.

“We’re sad to close the doors for the final year, but we’ve had some excellent students and excellent years,” she said.
The Christian school was established in 2001 and ended this school year with 29 students from the 3-year-old preschool class to the fourth grade.

Volunteers honored included Joann Anderson, Arlene Jones, Betty Thurlow, Teny Smith and Gale Brown. Teachers, Nelson, Julie Jones, Melinda Campbell, Diane Ellenburg and Tammy Smith, presented the awards and certificates.

Students receiving awards were in the three-year-old preschool class, Josie Carmichael, Lucy Davis, Cassie-Lynn Morris, Jaylin Vera and Mills Smith; 4-year-old kindergarten, Hunter Brown, Brady Campbell, Zachery Martin, Julian Noble, Addison Reiter, Aidan Smith, Brieanna Stephenson, Nicole Whatley; kindergarten graduates were, Emily Campbell, Stanley Franklin, Michael Howerton, Christa McCall and Mathew Miller; First and second grade students included Hannah Blalock, Olivia Carmichael, Cyle Carpenter, Bayleigh Edberg, Brandon Hall, Kacie Nelson, Jessa McCall, Ryan Shirah and Autumn Walock; third and fourth grade, Cody Campbell and Katelyn Davis.
